Greek Glaucoma Society 30th Annual Congress 2026

This year, the Greek Glaucoma Society had the pleasure of organising its 30th Annual Congress, held in Athens from 19 to 21 March 2026, bringing together a distinguished faculty of national and international experts.

The congress presented the latest advances in glaucoma diagnosis and management through a dynamic programme of lectures, symposia, round-table discussions, and interactive sessions.

A strong international presence enriched the meeting, with renowned invited speakers from across Europe contributing to a high-level scientific dialogue and reinforcing the Society’s close collaboration with the European and global glaucoma community. A highlight of the congress was the “Anagnostakis–Trantas” Honorary Lecture, during which Professor Gus Gazzard was presented with the award in recognition of his outstanding career and contribution to glaucoma. The award was conferred by the President of the Greek Glaucoma Society, Ioannis Chalkiadakis, together with Professor Fotis Topouzis in his capacity as President of the World Glaucoma Association.

Special emphasis was placed on surgical education, with dedicated clinical courses and wet labs focusing on trabeculectomy and glaucoma drainage devices, providing valuable hands-on experience and practical insights for participants at different stages of training.

In close connection with World Glaucoma Week 2026, the Society also organised national awareness initiatives, including a press conference and the illumination of the Hellenic Parliament building, highlighting the importance of early diagnosis and public engagement.

The congress successfully combined high-level scientific content with practical education and international collaboration, reaffirming the Greek Glaucoma Society’s commitment to excellence in glaucoma care, education, and research.
